Coronavirus (COVID-19) Catch-up Premium

The government has announced it will be providing schools with a Coronavirus (COVID-19) catch-up premium.

Schools’ allocations will be calculated on a per pupil basis, providing each mainstream school with a total of £80 for each pupil in years Reception through to Year 11.

At Lewis Court High School, we had 404 pupils on roll at the time of application, which means we will receive a total of £32,320. We will receive this in instalments and have received the first payment of £8,080.

The government guidance states that schools should use this funding for specific activities to support their pupils to catch up for lost teaching over the previous months, in line with the guidance on curriculum expectations for the next academic year.

How it is intended the grant will be spent

At Lewis Court High School, we have chosen to spend our allocation on online support for pupils as well as upgrading the network infrastructure to increase capacity and capability for online learning platforms.

How the effect on attainment will be assessed

All pupils completed baseline assessments at the end of September 2020 and were assessed again at the beginning of December 2020 to identify further areas for improvement across the school, and which pupils need it the most. The next assessment date is March 2021

Admissions Appeals Timetable

Publish a timetable for organising and hearing admission appeals by 28 February each year. This must:

  • Include a deadline for lodging appeals allowing at least 20 school days from the date of notification
  • Include reasonable deadlines for submission of additional evidence by all parties, and for the clerk to send appeal papers
  • Ensure that those making an appeal receive at least 10 school days’ notice of their appeal hearing
  • Ensure that decision letters are sent within 5 school days of the hearing wherever possible
